Mod Help
Ok guys I need some input. I used to use the board clear back in 97-98-99, then my 86 Z-28 got t-boned and I haven't been back in a while. But now I have another thirdgen and I'm ready to start working on it. So here's the info:
1992 RS, 305 TBI, Auto Trans, T-top, 126,000 mi, pretty much stock. Front disc, rear drums.
I plan on driving it for a while, and then eventually putting in a 350. So for now, I will not be doing any engine/power train mods. If you have input on that I would still be interested, but for now I am focusing on other things.
So, the question is, what types of mods can I do and get out of the way now, so they are done when it's time for an engine swap. suspsension, brakes, beauty, etc. Give me some of your opintions on what is most important.
I plan to polish the wheels soon. I figure the first place to start is the suspension, and making it handle better. I don't know. Im really not sure where I want to start, and would like to hear from you.
Thanks,
Chris.

SFCs
Most important mod and most effective mod you can do would be to buy yourself a set of subframe connectors and weld them in. This is especially true if you are planning on a 350. Adding more torque to your already weak unibody may cause it to twist and be seriously damaged. Subframe connectors connect your subframes (front and back) hence giving you a full frame. You will notice a great deal of difference in the way your car handles and feels if you install sfcs. It will also allow your motor to transfer its torque to the wheels more effectivly impoving your launch. You will feel like youve gained horse by installing sfcs even with your current motor. Dash rattles and t top Squeeks will be eliminated and your car will feel solid.
side note: Obvioulsy shocks/struts should be #1 priority if your current ones are worn out.

Welcome back!
Take a lok at the stickies (threads at the top of the page) in the TBI board to help you with your 305 TBI. There is plenty to read and those threads will give you the info you need to mod your car.

I'm going to agree with irocstang, sub frame connectors. These cars are getting older and the uni-bodys are extremly twistie (is that a word???) If you have t tops or conv. its even worst.
so maybe:
sub frame connectors
underdrive pulleys (i know no motor mods but 10 to 15 hp for 20.00 you can't beat it)
exhaust (at least a good sounding muffer)
springs
shocks
window tint
any interior pieces and parts
And the list can go on and on there's just so many parts for these cars

Check ball joints

Hey, thanks guys. I have been through most of the tech articles. I was interested in individual opinions on what you feel is most important/definately worth spending the cash on. Everything is pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking. I'll do a little more research and maybe get back with more specific questions.
Thanks,
Chris.
