Firestone warranty????

I've got a set of Firehawk WideOval's that are about 4 months old with 6-7K miles on them. They still look nearly new. Anyway I have a nail sticking out if the sidewall on the inside of the passenger rear.

I called for Firestone store where I bought them and he said it wouldn't be covered!

Is this true? Am I hosed? I didn't get road hazzard for the $25 each so I guess I am?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The warranty covers defects in the tires' manufacturing.

If you can demonstrate that running over a nail with a non-repairable part of the tire is the result of a defect in the manufacturing of the tire, then it should be covered.

Otherwise, I'm afraid he's right. Bummer; but that's how the world works.

wow that sucks that should be covered. I'd go up there and talk to someone and have them explain the warranty cause that seems like some

I had that happen to me 3 times in a month I had the warranty they replaced the tires($230 each) for free I just had to pay the $30 to warranty the new tire, not firestone though

Kairles has the right idea.Go to the store you bought them from and talk to the manager. For good customer service he could prorate you a tire to replace that one tire. Also ask him if you could purchase the road hazard warranty(you should be able to for at least the one tire). It's cheap insurance plus it usually comes with free rotation/balancing for the life of the tires.

Thanks guys! I'll go in and offer to byy the road hazzard on all 4 if he replaces that one. I'd rather pay $100 and have them covered that the $168 replacement and not be covered!

Thanks!

It doesn't work that way. You cannot get road hazard warranty on tires that are not new. You will be able to buy the RH warranty on the new tire you will have to purchase but you will not be allowed to get it for the other three. If they were less than a week old then maybe, but still probably not. So, in other words, you're hosed.

Also, you should not be paying $25 a piece for road hazard warranty. I worked in the industry for nearly 4 years (late 2001 to early 2005)and $15.99 each is the most I've ever seen with $10.99 being the average so I definitely suggest getting your tires at another place in the future.
