torque arm bushing
Ok I'm in the middle of swapping out transmission 700r4 and had to swap tail section and figured I might as well put a new TQ arm bushing in and low and behold I can't for the life of me get the old one off. I have all the bolts out and the tail section is on the bench, ready to be put on the new trans but can not get the old one off, WHAT AM I missing? left the nut on so as not to dameage the threads and tried to give a little brass hammer persuasion & absolutely nothing. Don't want to break it, loaded it up w/PB blaster to let set over night and will try again tomorrow with maybe some tech advice, like I said, I don't want to break it pls help

?
What bolts are you trying to remove? The bolts holding the rubber TA bushing onto the tranny? Not at the rear axle right?
This part should be really easy
You got the two lower 10mm head bolts off right? Then the backing plate just slips off, and you drill out the rivets that hold the rubber bushing onto the plate, and the same on the other half of the bushing. (riveted to the other half of that plate).
Can you get a picture?

Yes the bolts holding the complete TQ/ARM bushing mount from my 700r4. It is obviously diff from yours if you have 10mm bolts or nuts holding it on, mine are 15mm w/6in long bolts that go through the tail section. Two of them came right out but the one that is welded to the bushing housing will not come out of the tail section so that I may replace it. Here is the pic that I get. See the bolt attached to the TQ/arm bushing housing?

oh ok. So those two holes in the front of your torque arm, are actually used? huh, mine aren't...
Yea, my '82 is backwards as well. Well i'll let someone else chime in then.

Sounds like it has galled itself to the bushing it passes through. Keep up with the PB Blaster and try to work it around to try and get the penetrant down through it. Steel and aluminum will do this when not coated with anti sieze. Maybe try a little heat from a small torch. Good luck.

Yes, dissimiar metal corrosion, covered this thoroughly in the service as an aircraft mech. Just didn't click till now thanks.
So I should get my (jaws of life) channel locks out and try to twist it back and forth. btw tranny is on the bench and tail section is next to it. If that doesn't work I have small torches. thanks for the reply guys
