Suspension on a budget, need some advice
This is my first post on this forum, been a long time lurker-
I have had to park my 85 Camaro due to insurance, I sold my truck and took over payments on another vehicle and my camaro went to my primary vehicle...$1800 every 6 months! So while she is down I plan on doing some suspension mods. I didn't drive it on the street but maybe 10 miles a month anyway-
Problem is I'm pushing 510 flywheel horsepower on a stock axle. I'm afraid if I do much modding the rear will bust and I'll be stuck with a bunch of nice suspension mods and no money. Right now I have about $150 a month to sink into it comfortably...
Also how long is too long to let a vehicle sit without driving?

most all the nice suspension stuff you'll need to do is going to transfer over to say a 9" or 12 bolt as long as you use one of the bolt in kits. with that much HP, id start saving for a stonger axle before doing aftermarket suspensions pieces.
you'll need to do subframe connectors first, really any brand will work just fine.
if you want help getting some of the flex out of the stock suspension for little cost, i'd go ahead and box the factory lca's and panhard rod. this will cost nothing but the cost of some 16ga steel to box them in and some time to weld them in. also, get some bolt on lca relocation brackets, that way they will transfer over to the 9" or 12 bolt. bolt on lca relocation brackets can be had through BMR for i think $80 or so. BMR Fabrication Inc.
and the stock style suspension works really well too. there are plenty of people in the 1.3x and 1.2x 60' range with stock style replacement suspensions pieces.
now my question for you, what is the purpose of this car? is it street/strip or just a street car, or what?
