strut tower brace help
strut tower brace help
ok guys i have an 86 iroc with a carbed motor....i want a strut tower brace and all i find that i can use is the edelbrock stb for the tbi/carb which is ok since that seems to be the only brand that makes one to fit but my question is how does it mount to the strut tower and will it interfear with the camber/caster adjustment by being in the way of the upper strut mount? i have spohn's fabricated upper mounts but the pics i see of the brace on our cars looks like it is right next to the mounts. im sure that was taken into consideration when edelbrock designed them, but you never know. i want to know before i buy it cause i need all my camber/caster adjustment. my front is lowered about 3 inches. and also it looks like it might not fit with the factory snorcal and air intake tube, will it clear that or not as well. thanks guys
i know it mounts to the area right in front of the upper strut mounts, but how close? will i still have all the room needed to move the upper strut mount for the camber and caster adjustments or will it limit the movement of the upper mounts
As long as Spohn's mounts are the same size/fit as OEM mounts, then it'll fit. Same goes with my MHS fabricated mounts, same exact fit as the stock mount where it meets the fender tower. So as long as that is true, then any STB designed for a stock mount should fit.
ok here is the next question, the edelbrock is for 87-92 with the ac compressor on the passener side, my car is an 86 with the ac compressor on the driver side. what is the difference i dont want to buy it and see it wont fit, and edelbrock cant answer me...lol

Another option for a carb'ed thirdgen is manufactured by Global West - it's a two point though. I think.... you can double check this, it has rod ends, and You have to fab up the stb brackets that locate on the strut towers.
