Rear Panhard Bar Question
Rear Panhard Bar Question
Hello, everyone:
I am planning to build an oval track car from a gen 3 Car, and I have a rear suspension question. My apologies if this is common knowledge, I am VERY new to these cars.
Did all of the gen 3 cars have a rear panhard bar, or were there years or models that did not?
One car at the track I plan to race has one, but it appears to have fabricated mounts, not factory. The one body I have looked at was lying on the ground, so I could not see the rear suspension.
Were there any cars that had an adjustable bar? Our rules only allow factory adjustments and factory installed parts.
Also, which year of Camaro or Firebird would you recomend for a pavement stock car?
Thanks for the help.

all thirdgens came with a rear non adjustable panhard bar. As for a paticular year to use.... that is up to you.... however i have heard that 87 Norwood Irocs with the FE2 suspension RPO have the stiffest factory spring rates.
On most accounts birds have bigger sway bars and camaros have better spring rates.
I hope that helps.

I am glad to see someone using these for oval track. I asked a couple of drivers around my area and they said something about hoe the front strut setup was impossible to race with
Hope it works out for you and please leave the rust free cars for me.
