STEERING DAMAGE! need help!
I was recently involved in a collision with my '90 IROC; I was hit near straight on the driverside fender. The car is now undriveable due to severe toe-out and the stearing wheel is no longer center. Before I tow the car to my parents house and get underneath it I wanted to ask for some help. What do you suspect is damaged? Is there likely internal damage to the steering box? Is it possible it just upset or bent the linkage? I appreciate the help, thankyou in advance.

It could be any number of things. If the frames still straight then you shouldn't have much to worry about though. It could be as simple as a broken tie rod or ball joint, but it could be the control arms, ball joints, tie rods, steering box, center link, etc or any combo of these. Without looking, this is one of those things that you can only guess on.

Thank you for the response. I sort of realized it was useless to post that sort of a question. I guess I will get under it and hope to find little damage.

When you have it fixed, have them measure the frame. It can twist the frame where the steering box mounts from that type of hit. Happened to a guy I work with and drove the front end tech nuts trying to figure out what parts where damaged from the wreck when part of the problem was actually the frame.
