how much traction help with wider wheels and tires????
Hey guys, I will be installing a stroker in my Camaro and am worried about traction. Right now my little 305 will obliterate my stock 16x8 rims with 245/50/16s in 1st gear even from a roll. It hooks pretty good in 2nd gear as long as you are going straight. I am afraid with 500lbsft of torque that I wont have any traction in 1st or 2nd gear with my stock sized rims and tires. I do mostly auto-x with my car but I still want it to hook a little bit on the street. I just want some opinions from guys that have been down this road. Will my 383 obliterate my tires? Will stepping up to 17x9.5s with 275s help the car hook at all? would I get an increase in traction that would be worth the money? Just wanted some opinions, thanks guys.

Go with a 17 by 9.5 wheel in the back, and a 285/40 tire, a good tire.
And then 17 by 8 up front, with a 245/45. That would look GREAT, and should help alot with traction. Could even go with a 295 maybe.
