Poly vs. rubber

I have a 91 RS that I want to do a suspension rebuild on. I don't want to race it, I don't want to go head to head with a Saleen S7, I just want to restore the suspension to 'like new' condition so it handles great and rides nice without squeaking and rattling or jarring my kidneys until I **** blood. I am putting in subrame connectors and the TDS wonderbar as well.
I know poly bushings are all the rage, but for what I want, wouldn't new rubber do?
After all, new rubber vs. 16 year old rubber has got to be a world of difference...

I run polygraphite bushings that are self lubricating poly-u bushing impregnated with graphite.

I agree that new rubber would be the best for comforts.
