how much does C5 brakes effect backspacing??
I may be looking for new wheels for my car and I plan on adding the C5 front brake mod down the road. Most likely I will have to custom order my wheels and the backspacing thing comes to mind. How much does the C5 rotor push the wheel out? would I be able to run a 9.5" front wheel with a 6" backspacing? I plan on going with a 9.5" front and back wheel. Now there is also another dilema here. All this MUST happen with my new wheels:
all wheels must be tucked slightly
the lip on the front must NOT be deeper then the rear( I hate that)
the car must track better
I do not have a problem modifying the wheel wells to get the wheels to fit. I was thinking of going with 17x9.5 wheels assumng the C5 brakes will clear the wheel.
also what is the minimun backspacing I can get away with on the rear with a 17x9.5" I ask becauser this maybe the only way I can get a deeper lip on the rear wheels.

Yeah, its right at 1/4". I have 18x8's in the front with 4.5" Backspacing and wished I would have gone with a 4.75" BS. The C5 brakes did push them out just enough that i think they dont "tuck" quite enough. I ran 17x9.5's prior to that with 5.5" BS and 1LE brakes. So i would think that with 6" of backspacing and the 1/4" added from the C5's you would be at 5-3/4" BS. You may end up needing a 1/4" spacer.

ok that works for me. So I guess I could order new wheels and get all 4 with a 6" backspacing. The rears will be 10" wide so I think the 6" BS should be good. The fronts will will be 9" wide and the wheel may rub on the tierod or strut but adding the C5 rotor should help that a little bit, if not then I will add a 1/4" spacer on top of the C5 rotor. And like you said, that should in theory put me at 5.5" of backspacing. My only worry if that they will be to tucked and I wont like it. If that happens then I guess my only other thing to do is to add 1LE spindles which I think move the entire assembly out about 1/2" right

How would these wheel spec workout on my car with regualer hubs
18x9 with 6.00 bs +25 offset,
18x10 6.00 bs + 13 offset
18x9 with 6.00 bs +25 offset,
18x10 6.00 bs + 13 offset

Ive been looking around at different wheels and have another question, do all 9.5" wide wheels have the same offset or does it vary with manufacter? I found a wheel that is 17x9.5 with a 5.5"BS and a 6mm offset. I used this online offset calculator http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp and it says that by running that wheel on the front that the wheel will extend outward 13mm more then stock. Thats another 1/2" and then adding the C5 rotor which will be another 3/16ths to a 1/4" and I think these wheels will stick out too far. Am I right here or does that calculator not explain it all?
This is what I have come up with
this info was taken from the Summit site for the dagger wheel. these are wheels they have in stock for that wheel design
17x9.5 5" BS -6mm offset
17x9.5 5.5 "BS 6mm offset
17x9.5 6"BS 19mm offset
I see a pattern here with these wheels. it looks like for every 1/2" increase in BS, the offset increases by 12mm or 1/2". So, if I custom order this wheel straight from centerline with a 5.75"BS then theoredically, the offset would be 12mm. Now if I put those numbers into that calculator, then the wheel will extend outward 7mm or 1/4". Now remember that I am also adding the C5 brakes. My question is, will this work out with a 9.5" wheel AND the C5 brakes AND not have the wheels sticking out AND not have any issue with rubbing the tierod? The only person that I have seen running 9.5" wheels WITH the C5 brakes was the guy with the red vert IROC and he was running a 5.25"BS. Am I asking for too much here with what I want or should I just stick to an 8" wheel up front and just leave it alone?
