285/30/18's on Corvette rims

Hi,
Just a quick question about tyre size. I've done a search and couldn't seem to find what I was after. I've scored a set of Corvette magnesium wheels cheap. The rears are 18x9.5. I know the standard tyres for these are 275/40/18's. Now I've seen a pair of REAL CHEAP Pirelli's for sale. But they are 285/30/18's. Now obviously I'd like to fit the correct size, but at this price I don't mind a comprimise. I presume the width is ok, but is the profile just too small? Also is it ok to have the same make front and back but slightly different range? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It'll be too small. 285/35 is what you want

Yeah I did some measuring and it's 1" smaller than a 275/40/18. I think it would probably look like ***. But I can score 2 new Pirelli tyres for £56 ($112). Hmmm.....
