Part number for WS6 steering box?

Does anyone know the part number for a new 12.7:1 WS6 or IROC steering box? Are these even availible anymore?

Maybe this will help, maybe not (Can't recall where I got it or I'd give credit):

• “WS” – 1982-1992 Camaro – 12.7:1 ratio (just like your Z/28, this may be the box that you Z originally had.

• “XH” – 1985-1992 Camaro – 12.7:1 ratio (this box was also installed on Z/28’s and other high performance Camaros; it has slightly more steering effort required than the WS box.) NOTE – I believe this box was used on cars originally equipped with 16” wheels

• “WN” – 1982-1985 Camaro – 14.1 ratio

• “WP” – 1982-1985 Camaro – 13:1-15:1 variable ratio (used in Berlinettas, least steering effort required of all third gen. Camaro steering boxes)

• “JL” – 1986-1992 Camaro – 14.1 ratio (base Camaro steering box)

Thanks James, I know I need the "XH" box. I just need to know if these are availible to be purchased new, or am I going to have to pull a good one off another car?

If you go to Advanced auto they will search and several steering boxes will come up. I bought the "with FE2" steering box because that has the quick ratio steering.
These are rebuilt and cost about $150 and have a $30-$40 core on them.
I like the way it handles and might pick up one for my truck.

Which one would you need for a 1989 TransAm GTA?

I posted that awhile back when I was doing research. The 2 digit codes are stamped on the front of the steering box in ink, so the stamp tends to come off. But I have seen plenty of XH and WS boxes at Junkyards.

There are also plenty of aftermarket options available.

FYI: all camaro steering boxes have a "Z" marking on it, even the crappy ones.
