Another vibration question
Hey guys I have a 90 RS with 282K miles on it... and its still running strong. But recently its starting having a problem with random vibrations. It does not do it all the time, just every now and then. In a 10 or 12 mile trip it does it 2 or 3 times. I can be driving down the road and all of a sudden it starts vibrating violently! It feels like a tire is giong to come off the car. When it happens i can slow down about 5-10 miles an hour and it will quit. It does it at any speeds too...30 mph or 70 mph. It sounds to me like wheel bearings. But if you jack the car up and try to move the wheel it has very little play in it... but i'm no expert in front end work either. It could also be the tie-rod end i think. Is there a way to check it without replacing it? Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Re: Another vibration question
sounds exactly like balljoints to me. Moog has some nice ones but they don't come painted and rust is not your friend. I would say get some, prime them to seal in the grease (they come lightly coated) and then put a couple coats of nice paint on them. The shop I go to will press them in for 25 bucks per side.

Thats about what i was thinking. Someone also mentioned the universal joint possibly causing it. But i put a new one in it a few months back. You can check the ball joint by jacking the car up and trying to turn the tire back and forth right?
