Noises from left front...

Whenever I quickly reverse and brake, there is sometimes a loud clunk noise from th left front as it comes to a stop. It seems whenever I do this aggressively... such as when backing out onto a street or into a parking lot, something of that nature, it happens. If right after this I quickly hit the brakes in the same hurried but not ridiculous fashion, it will do it again.

Something is moving around up front and I have no idea what it is. Seems like reversing and braking pulls it in a certain direction, and accelerating and braking pops it back into wherever it was in the first place. Could have something to do with the new struts and springs I got in there Sunday, or it may have something to do with the brakes that I messed with yesterday. I didnt see anything obviously wrong with the brakes, so I doubt that's it. Would have been nice, though.

I've check everything I can for tightness, but mst of those bolts in the front suspension are too large for any of my tools, but nothing is moving from pressure I can apply by hand... so I'm at a loss, and the car is parked until I can figure out what the deal is...

Wait a second, maybe Im barking up teh wrong tree here... maybe the brake pads are shifting around inside the caliper? What can cause that?

Re: Noises from left front...

I have the same problem, I checked it out and it seemed like it was the balljoints, I am using this excuse to rebuild my front end with all MOOG products. That might also be the problem in your case.
