Manual Steering Conversion, A how-to of sorts.
*TOOLS NEEDED*
19mm Socket
10mm Socket / Wrench
16mm Socket
Pitman Arm Puller
Jack
Jack Stands
- That's it for the tools except for the couple of socket/wrench sizes I couldn't remember, which will come with the edit/update.
Okay, so since my T/A is down for awhile I decided to go ahead and swap over to manual steering. A few Google searches later I was off to the local junkyard in search of a manual steering box from an '85 - '92 4cyl S10. $69.80 afterwards and I'm on my way home with said steering box to begin the work.
Here are a few pictures of the factory power steering box...

Start by pulling off your power steering pump & lines (will update with sizes of bolts/nuts later). Next, unbolt your steering column from the shaft and unbolt the shaft from the box (10mm).
Then you will have to jack up the car (use jack stands!) and pull off the tire (19mm socket if I remember correctly). Remove the nut off (? will post with update) of the steering box followed by the pitman arm.
There are two bolts on the frame rail (16mm) that you will have to remove. Then, crawl under the car abit and in the space between your fender and frame there will be some brackets {PICTURE SOON} that will need to be removed (10mm).
After removing the brackets you will see the third bolt that needs removed (also 16mm). After these are removed yank out the power steering box!

Drop in the manual steering box (easiest with a second person) and reverse the procedure. Note, if you have that problem where your steering wheel is crooked when your wheels are straight, now is the perfect time to fix it.
Here's a few pics of the manual steering box before installation.

I will update with more info and probably have this written bette as well!
