Tires

I wanted to get a good performing set of 16 inch tires with the raised white lettering. I would like to stay with the stock 245/50/r16 but I could change that as long as it doesn't affect the speedo too much. Where can I get a tire like this. I went to my local goodyear tire dealer and he said there is nothing in that size with the white lettering from goodyear or dunlop. WTF? What options do I have? Thanks in advance.

Re: Tires

Well, you could get good tires, instead of Goodyear or Dunlop...

It's getting hard these days to find quality tires with white rubber in them. Since that's just trim, it merely adds to the expense and weight of the tire, without contributing anything functional. Most mfrs have abandoned it since most consumers realize that it's not worth paying extra to get something that does nothing. About the only ones that still sell them like that, are the ones that make cheaper tires to sell to people who don't so much care how a tire works, but rather how it "looks". If you're in that group, there's not much I can do to help, because I know nothing whatsoever about "looks". I go for function. I might just as well be blind.

The last 16s I had on my car before I modernized its wheel size (again) because good tires were getting harder to find, IIRC were Yokohama. Blackwall.
