new to suspension

Hey, I've got an 89 IROCZ that I'm dropping a 383 stroker (about 425 horse/ 450 torque) with a HSR this summer, but before I do this I want to work on the suspension and chassis. I've been looking around on here, so I'm not totally new, but I really don't have a clue as to what I need to do. I'm looking at sub-frame adapters from sphoon. I know that they guy who had it before me kinda chewed up the suspension. The sway bar connectors are rusted off (damn Minnesota) and I'm sure that the shocks/struts and springs need replacing. What I would like to know is what I could do to keep the car in one piece and handle well, and what might need replacing on a 20 year old car.
