Koni yellow vs KYB gr2
Re: Koni yellow vs KYB gr2
That's kind of a vague question. If you plan on doing plenty of road racing/autocrossing, then you need the yellows. If it's just a street cruiser, with the odd trip to the track, then the GR2s will be fine.

Because I autocross my car, I plan on buying the Koni yellows as soon as they are in stock. I have very short commutes to work and school (maybe 5 miles to work and 2 miles to school) so I don't car much about a rough ride.

Me too, except I do know the ones that were worn out, that used to be on the car.
Not a ruff ride at all, I have the fronts set pretty firm, and the rears set one click from full soft.

Re: Koni yellow vs KYB gr2
The GR-2 are a middle of the road piece that does not give stellar performance in any category but does well in most. If you want a sensible solution for a reasonable price they will do alot better than the common gabriel and monroe junk.
Even low end Koni are a step above the rest. I find they lose some performance a little faster then expected but like anything else you get what you pay for and yellows are pretty good bang for buck thru out their service life.
What else have you replaced on your suspension? If nothing, eg: its all old stuff, I'd get the GR-2s front and back and take the money I saved over the konis and replace every moving part in the front and rear suspension. Then you would notice a difference...

you need to take into account that koni's come with a lifetime warrantee. i replaced my Gabriel's with kyb's and there was almost no difference in feel even though the old ones were so worn that i could push the shaft in and out easily. and now after 2 years on the road they're showing pretty bad signs of wear.

Re: Koni yellow vs KYB gr2
I was just thinking of replacing the suspension on my 91 V6 Firebird with KYBs but after hearing that, think I'll look for another brand as 2 years is nothing!!!
Thanks for that!
