help me setup a plan for my suspension

ok i have finished the drivetrain in my 87 iroc and now i severly need to adress the suspension. Car was rock stock with 20yr old everything on it. I recently redid the drivetrain with a ls1 (not stock) built t56, and a 9". Ive been to the track in this car to shake down the engine and such and its insane how soft and old this suspension is as the car bounces everywhere even shifting from 4th-5th and i know its gonna hurt me severely in my 1/4 times.

This car is not a dedicated racecar, but it will get its fair share of track abuse, so i dont want a dedicated drag suspension. Believe it or not the car 60'd 1.6 on just a 255 mickey thompson drag radial. As much as id like to have a wheelstander i want this car to be as streetable as possible. I have already put a couple inches of daylight under the front tires so im sure i will be able to do it again

Im looking for a happy medium as far as struts/springs/shocks go, or maybe even coilovers or whatever. I would like the car to sit just alittle lower (inch or so if possible) The car can be driven for miles and miles so i dont want a drag suspension for the street as my car is not a trailer queen. As much as id like to have a wheelstander i want this car to be as streetable as possible. I have already put a couple inches of daylight under the front tires so im sure i will be able to do it again

I also need recommendations on a torque arm. Ive heard that with the manual transmission cars the shorter arm is better? I just need advice on that setup.

I also obviously know i need sfc's so thats a given.

The car has bmr tubular control arms on it already that I installed when i put the rear end in the car, and i have a track rental in september and i plan to put the car on a 200 shot so i really need to address a few suspension woes.

anybody have any input? i need to put a shopping list together.

For the street..... poly bushing kit, new shocks and struts, and if you want it lowered some new springs. That will change the entire feel of the car.

Re: help me setup a plan for my suspension

check out spohns website. they have coilover kits for front and rear. although they are $$$ and thats without new struts in the front. im not sure about the rears. you would be much better off going with new shocks and struts (KYB AGXs are best bang for the buck and easy to adjust). for the front tubular a arms and k member a are great way to bump up the strength and lower the weight of the front end of the car. bushings are extremely important when it comes to overhauling your suspension. you should get a set of lowering springs and then an adjustable panhard bar and LCA relocation brackets to correct the rear suspension geometry and if your worried about the stock LCAs which are weak stamped steel, get tubular LCAs. and the another thing that would be good to upgrade (im assuming you have a lot more horsepower than stock) is the torque. spohn makes them for just about any tranny retrofit that goes with a thirdgen. all of the suspension parts can be bought from spohn, although the springs (i went with eibach sportlines) and shocks and struts are cheaper via the tire rack. the eibach pro kit will be better for the street/strip. my car is pure road race. all of this is what many would agree is an awsome setup. i hope this helps

almost forgot! sway bars are also very important. spohn has a rear drag setup that i would assume is high quality and effective. i personally went with the CM all around
