Raising the RS....

I have a 1992 RS that I got not long ago.I realize that some front end/suspension work will need to be done to make this car roadworthy.Maybe I'm a little old school, but I just don't like the "in the weeds" stance this car has.Mind you, I don't want the 4X4 look; just maybe a couple of inches higher than stock all the way around.I was thinking air shocks for the rear, but I'm clueless as to what to do for the front end.Coilovers? Beefier springs? What will work that will be safe and legal? The car will mainly be a weekend cruiser.Any and all suggestions will be appreicated...thanks, third-gen fans!!

Re: Raising the RS....

You could just buy some MOOG replacement springs or you could try coil spring spacers. most likely your springs have sagged about a 1" or so. these cars do sit pretty low from factory

Re: Raising the RS....

Get some stock replacement Moog springs. Those should bring the car up about an inch. I just put some in mine and they raised the car back up about an inch.

Re: Raising the RS....

That's about what I would be looking for;an inch or maybe two. This joker has about 167K on it, so I imagine the springs are kinda tired.I'm probably going to go with air shocks out back, and have the rear end sit up a cat hair higher than the front.

Re: Raising the RS....

you can get the moog iroc replacement springs from spohn for like 125 bux, and they will raise the car back up a bit, and they have pretty good spring rates too. I would not use air shocks, they have been known to destroy the upper shock mounts.

Yea, saggy springs are normal, and that's why you're dragging on the ground. New springs will give a very good ride height.
I paid about $80 per pair for moog springs, in Canada, so you should be able to get them a bit cheaper. Most parts stores can order in the ones you need.
5662 for the front, cc635 for the rear.
