V6 handling and LSD Questions

Hello, I am not sure if i have open or limited slip diff in my car,
probably open, as its a V6.

My question is, I wanted to throw in an IROC Z rear end,
to get LSD, and Rear discs in one shot,

However, is this going to hurt my handling barreling around really
sharp turns like I can do now?

Re: V6 handling and LSD Questions

LSD is a good thing, it'll help you power out of corners. Just make sure you get the same gear ratio.

Dumb reply. You do know that a Limited slip is the same as positaction (posi).

ok, as long as its not going to cause one wheel to hop or lock around a corner.

Re: V6 handling and LSD Questions

The only thing that would hurt you would be a spool....or a stuck locker. A LSD (or Positraction as GM calls them) will help you.

Re: V6 handling and LSD Questions

The posi will tighten the car up and make it a tad harder to rotate through and out of a corner. the nose of the car will push more and you'll have to put more wheel into it to turn when under throttle.

So could an open diff car work well or better with more rear roll stiffness? Like say a V6 autocross car?

Re: V6 handling and LSD Questions

Look into a TR2 differential. They are made specifically for cornering cars.

Wrong...You are posting bad info.
positraction is limited slip in the corners. It is a cone style clutch locker with spyder gears and is spring loaded pressure just how much the clutches allow slip in tighter corners.
V8's will waste Auburs and Eatons quicker and I recommend the T2's, however, with a low hp V6? I had one that handled EXTREMELY well and I had an Auburn PRO (the stiffer springed version) in mine that is lastin fine.

Well at least you admit it. Now you learned something, so now don't make the same mistake again.

You'll have to adjust the suspension differently with a 'posi' as opposed to an 'open diff'. the posi will tighten up the car.

Other names for an open diff? Lets have some fun here-

One tire fire
one wheel peel
one rubber scrubber
.....
feel free to continue this.....

But you stated incorrect information after a number of people had stated the facts.
