DIFFERENT Spring/Strut Question

(I did a search, so please don't freak...)
What would be my best choice for a good-performing, reasonably priced strut/spring combo on a bone-stock 1991 Formula 350? If the springs are shorter, I would like less than a 1" drop. Most every thread I've read is about lowering, max-G, or drag set-ups. I just want an excellent replacement that may be even slightly better than stock.
IIRC, I used Bilstein struts on my 1989 Formula way back when and they were pretty good... Thanks in advance! B

Re: DIFFERENT Spring/Strut Question

For springs I cannot say enough good things about the Eibach Pro kit. My car rides better then it did on the stock WS6 springs, it looks better and handles better.

I have never scrapped or bottomed out.

For struts/shocks--what are you looking for? More comfort--go KYB GR2s--a little more handling bias without breaking the bank? Try KYB-Gas Adjusts.

I have had both of these at one point or another.

Re: DIFFERENT Spring/Strut Question

When I was looking to lower mine I was really concerned about negatively impacting comfort as our roads here are the pits. I talked to alot of people who had done the same and generally people who had dropped past 1" to the 1.6" springs felt that the KYBs didn't offer enough damping.

The order of preference was Koni, Tokiko (Illumina not HP) and Bilstein (they are all adjustable) . I opted for the Tokiko Illumina with the Eibach "Sportline" springs and have been grinning ever since.

I'm no expert, but I'm glad I followed the advice I was given. So I pass it along with my own positive experience.

Re: DIFFERENT Spring/Strut Question

Thanks for the input guys!
I had Eibach Sportlines and Strano-tuned Bilstiens on my 2000 Z28 and, while it was a great handling/looking set-up, it was a little stiff and I don't want to lower the Formula that much. Maybe the Pro-Kit...
As for the adjustable shocks, do you really get your use out of the adjustability?
Thanks again! B

It's not so much that I'm adjusting them all the time, it's more that you can tailor the shocks' ride characteristics to your liking.
