adapters with an ls1 diff?

Okay guys just finished dropping my ls1 diff in and of course its sticking out about an inch on either side. I have 275/40/17 out back and im curious has anyone used adapter plates? like with a better offset or something?

I was going to a shop locally that will cut my rims

i dont really care if it sticks out but im nervous if the fender lip will hit the tire when im launching.

The car is dropped maybe a 1/2 inch or so.

You can't make something shorter with an adapter.
