Suspension difference between SC and IROC (with pics)
Suspension difference between SC and IROC (with pics)
Hey there - I wanted to drop by with some (hopefully) useful information and pictures.
My car is an '88 Sport Coupe. The full project I am working on is being cronicled here -> My Project.
I recently picked up a nice IROC parts car, namely because a buddy poked and prodded me to look for the upgraded suspension package it would offer.
Today, we worked to swap over the beefier IROC parts to my SC. This includes the front springs and sway bar. When I get the rear suspension parts out, I'll try to remember to come back here and add the pics for that, too.
For those wondering, I wanted to drop in some photos of the difference between the parts. Hopefully, this will help others gauge the value of any upgrades they might attempt in the future.
Happy wrenchin'!!!

Re: Suspension difference between SC and IROC (with pics)
Spring size is deceiving. The IROC spring is shorter but with the thicker wire, it also has a higher spring rate. This means it won't compress as much with the same weight as the SC spring will. Chances are the SC spring will compress down to the same ride height as the IROC spring. This means the SC spring is softer with more spring travel. It will give a smoother ride. The IROC spring is stiff. It's designed for aggressive driving and won't compress much in hard cornering.
