ditching the power steering
ive read all the posts about changing over to a manual box, but i want to know if i can just remove the pump and cap off the lines? going to make a budget race car.. so no extra money needs to be spent..

Yes, but it will very hard to steer.
Whenever you try to turn the wheel, you are building up lots of hydraulic pressure.

I don't think you will want to cap the lines. If there is a check valve on the pressure port of the box remove that. Then loop the supply and return ports together. Note that if you later decide later to put the P/S pump back on a new box will most likely be required.
Everytime I drove a car for a while without a P/S pump the box went bad.

thanks for the replies, i plan to run skinnies and never have power steering again. i also plan to put in a manual box, but that is money that could be spent on motor work first
