i want to do the hole suspension system in my 83 camaro but i dont really know ne good parts i want the suspension to be really good idc bought prices for now i just want an idea because im really into racing/street racin so i need some good suspension parts not for good drivin but for racing

 

For racing....ok.... Racing parts cost big bucks. you want the best? Go buy Varistrut doulbe adjustables for the front and Penske 4ways for the rear shocks. Once you can afford those for your street car you want to go racin' with, then come ask me the next question. You probably will not evenbe able to afford the maintanence those shocks need to be rebuild when you do in fact drive around the street on them- they are race only designed to be very sensitive but worthlesss with high mileage usage unless constantly rebuild.

This has been gone over several times. KONIs, Bilsteins, Tokicos, KYBs, then the junk Advance sales. That's the 'best' street shocks to the worst. There is a thread in this forum entitled How to make a 3rd gen handle or something along those lines. Read through this. It might help you get some ideas of what you are looking for.

 

My first bit of advise is to find a local autocross group. I can garuntee you will have just as much fun, experiance the same adrenaline rush and it be a lot safer for everyone around you. If you're more for high speed stuff then start club racing or attend HPDE events at nearby road courses. Once again just as fun and a lot safer for everyone.

However, since you will probably ignore the first paragraph, I suppose I should still try and help answer your questions when I can. This way if you do crash, it would only be your lack of talent behind the wheel that would be at fault. (I'm not saying you are a bad driver, I'm just saying you wont be able to blaim anything else)

As what has been said above, you don't want race parts and you need to atleast get the basics from the above mentioned threads so you can narrow down your questions. Frankly, what you asked for is very open ended. You could get a million answers and they could all be right. Get some background of the suspension your car has and how it works and then ask more direct questions.

I AGREE with racing geek.......and DO check out UMI sales....they, IMO (in my opinion) have the best suspension parts out there.....I use only UMI parts and am fully into road course racing and auto cross......
