Q on Rear
My plans are to get a new rear and probably buy one online, so have 3.73 gears with i believe either 12 to 10 bolt drums, but my real question is what should i do for my rear to be held in place, i plan on driving my car around town and on the strip, my engine is a 350 w/ 535-562hp/tq i already speced through a shop but wanting to do my body work first before tossing in the engine, just want to know what to do about my rear... no slicks sticking with nice summer street tires, not winter or rain or anything.

Re: Q on Rear
i have no idea what you are asking, that was a real jumble of words.
You have a 10bolt rear.
If you buy a bolt in replacement aftermarket rear, it will bolt right intot he car. If you dont buy a bolt in aftermarker rear, you have a lot of fab work to do.

Re: Q on Rear
sorry about that...
my plan is i'm going to be getting a 350 engine which will have 536~550 at the flywheel. I'm curious on my rearend of what i should be doing. I heard my rear should be fine but i was disagreeing. I noticed one person had a 10bolt rear but had like these straight metal brackets that connect the rear to the frame instead of those bushing on a stick. Just curious really what I should do so i don't yank my rear out or anything...

Re: Q on Rear
you are probably talking about ladder bars. not needed
the stock setup will have no issues holding the rear in the car, you can upgrade all the parts to tubular if you want. Check out UMI, Spohn, BMR ect.
the rear will break before the suspension ever has an issue. There are cars running in the 8's and probably faster with a stock style suspension.
If you use tire with any kind of traction, the stock rear will not be long for this world. Start saving you pennies for a 12 bolt, 9" or dana60

Re: Q on Rear
I was looking to stay with stock tires as well if possible, but more along the lines or what would be usable as almost slicks but are streetable.
But I was interested in looking for a new rear since i need to either swap to another stock w/ 3.73 in or order one online, still deciphering...
