Violent shaking while braking

Hey guys,

I've done my search and haven't really found a good enough explanation. i've always loved 3rd gen camaro and i'm finally willing to get one. This is an 88 z28. It's going for $1500 in my area. It has some sort of suspension problem. While braking the front end starts to shake very violently. If you depress the brake pedal and press it again it goes away, depending on the amount of pressure you use.

In my search for this issue, I noticed alot of focus on the rotors being warped. Could this be the issue? The guy that owns the car says that the problem is blown shocks that causes the car to shake like that. I want to know what your opinion is.

$1500 for a Z28 that GM did not make in 1988???? I would lean to the warpped rotors first. But I would not rule out the front struts & strut mounts.
I would check this car closely, even for that money. Sounds like a poorly maintained car with a shakey history.

Well if you actually want to know the whole scoop of it. Outside stickers say Z28. By this i mean on the side skirts and also on the back bumper. BUT, the interior dash has the 25th Anniversary emblem on the passenger side. Could it possibly be a frankestein? Maybe.

Back to the issue. Rotors, struts, strut mounts. He told me that he replaced them a couple months ago. Could there be another culprit?

Sounds like a Franken car, unless you want the unknown problems walk away.
Just my opinion.

Re: Violent shaking while braking

buying a car that was never made - with fake everything on it - i would not even rule out that it is not even an 88. or maybe it was a salvage that was given a bit of a face lift.
run away and spend your 1500 on something else.

Re: Violent shaking while braking

bad rotor, loose caliper, loose spindle nut, loose strut bolts,
you need to look close.
