air bag suspension universal

I was wondering if air bags can be used universally on certain cars, because our cars have a lot of room that looks like you can just bolt up any bags to the suspension wire it up and it will work. I have a friend who has a kit that complete with bags wiring switches and tank that came off a 70 mustang but were not made for a 70 mustang, made for something like a civic or jetta he beieves. The brackets attached to 2 of the bags closely resemble the strut part of front shocks ( I have a 91 camaro ) and the rear looks pretty simple does anyone have any information, do you think it could be done.

What kind of bags are they? Size or part number? On any car with shocks/struts that are separate from the coils airbags are pretty simple to install. You are going to have to get upper and lower bag cups that sit where the factory springs used to be and give the airbag a flat surface to sit on like so.

Those cups are for an S-10 but since a third gen and S-10 share the same lower control arms and both use the frame for an upper mount they should work. The rear mount might be a little harder as you will have to make adapters to put the bags where the springs used to be because im not aware of any company that makes them already.

I've heard that airbag suspension isn't practical for everyday driving and parts are likely to break, I only drive my cars in the summer because its a convertable anyways so dunno if it would bother me to much but is that true. How does the ride feel compare to a lowering kit im runnin the pro kit its not low enough for me.

If the system is setup properly it can give you years of trouble free driving. Use all DOT approved PTC (push to connect) fittings and buy quality valves. Also it helps to use gas tape instead of teflon tape on all your screw together connections. Gas tape is meant for gas lines and is about 3 or 4 times thicker than teflon tape. Other than that just make sure airlines arent near any hot or moving parts and run filters on your dumps. Even though air only flows one way (out) dirt will still find its way into your system and could possibly clog valves and cause them to stick open.

An airride system with a good set of shocks (really doesnt have to be anything special) will ride like a cadillac.

Even though my truck was setup without front shocks it still rode amazing.
