83 Rear shock tower repair.
My 83 RR shock pulled out from the body.
The metal there is torn up. I'm trying to find a good way to weld/reinforce the shock mount. Maybe a repair kit exists but I haven't found one.
Anyone have a fix for this? It's parked till it is fixed.

no repair kit.
it should be pretty easy to make up a little patch plate out of a piece of 1/8, cut to fit the area with the propersized hole in it. That or washers welded in place work too.

Re: 83 Rear shock tower repair.
That area should not take a beating. The body rides on the sring while the shock just dampens the bounce.
When the shock is lose and the rubber is all gone it does rattle around there and beat the crap out of the hole making things worse.
A person that knows what they are doing should be able to get to the thick area underneath and V out the cracks and weld it and then weld the inside and make it all fine. A body shop would and should know what they are doing and maybe do a better job than a muffler shop who usually just weld thin, non-structural, metal.
