I just realized that the Comp. Engineering Ladder Bar setup is only good for 12.99 or slower otherwise they suggest not using the bolt on version...well since the bolt on version is the one that really only works for thirdgens, can I bolt it on and have it welded?

Yup. Although, if it's the kind I'm thinkin of that welds to the axle tubes...I'd also have the tubes welded into the housing.
