Identify this Stabilizer (sway) Bar.......

During a recent foraging excursion at a local wrecking yard I came accross this sway bar on an '88 camaro. It is 34.5mm Dia. and it only weighs about 9.5 lbs and is apparently somewhat hollow. In contrast the oem bar on my '84 Z28 is 32mm Dia. and weighs apprx. 17 lbs. I thought I read somewhere recently about light-weight sway bars but now I do not recall what exactly I read.

I was just wondering if this sounds like a standard issue bar or if it is similar to an aftermarket unit?

Incidently I purchased said bar for $10.

Sounds like the stock front sway bar on my '86 Firebird V6.

GM had low thicknesses for front bars on the 82-84 Z28's, TransAm's, and regular f-bodies. They upped the thicknesses in later years. I was surprised to find that out; I was checking all the trans ams and Z28's I could find in the junkyards to find a thicker front sway bar than my stock one, and couldn't. I also verified that my bar was the same found on 85-up V6's.

Funny how the same rear bar (25mm) is used for later suspensions, though.
