Car: 1999 Chevy Cavalier
Engine: 2.2
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: it's part of the transmission
an artical in "HP PONTIAC" april '98,"mean street triathlon thrash", depicts an '84 TA with "GENERAL XP2000 275/40-17" I'm not sure if they come in stock sizes but in their words:they are a good balance as a practical street tire and a respectable performance tire. they pulled .91 G/ using these tires with KONIs,Eibach and Energy bushings.

I personally like tires that are round, black, have a hole in the middle, and sometimes hold air. ROTFLMAO!

OH COME ON! Just a joke! I worked at Firestone for over 6 years! The ultimate all season tire for your car is the SZ50. I run these on my Camaro. In the rain they are better than dry pavement due to UNI-T (wet weather traction) technology. The tires are modeled after Indy racing rain tires. If you encounter much snow you should go with the Potenza RE910. They also have UNI-T. My brother runs these year round with no problems. I have personally gone through six inches of snow with these tires, just need a couple of sand bags. The SZ50's are Z(140+MPH) speed rated and the RE910's are T(118MPH) speed rated. What you gain in snow traction you loose in high speed stability and handling, but not much.

P.S. RELAX

I agree with CamaroMike. Any tire, except the cheapies. Pick up a magazine and flip through, see what tires they have. That's the only reason I bought BFG Radial T/a's- and I noticed no difference in them over my old Daytonas or Goodyears.

Oh and think of wet-traction as this: Non-existant, no matter what tire you get. Think like that, drive extra-slow in the rain/snow, and you'll keep your car out of the guardrail.

I just got kuhmo 712's and i love them. Excellent wet traction. So far i love them, well see how long they last, supposedly a little longer then the dunlop sports.

I hust got some Dunlop SP 8000's. I picked these because they were only about $115 a piece from www.tirerack.com This is for the 255/50/ZR16 size. I can tell you that they are much better in the rain than my previous tires (Pirelli P700 SuperSports). They have an agressive tread pattern with deep grooves that do a good job of channeling water. The only complaint I would have is that the tread on the edge of the tires is not nearly as deep as in the middle so if you do alot of agressive cornering (like me) the outer edges may wear down too fast.
