im rebuilding the front end on my TA, i just recieved my PSC kit earlier this week. i talked to a friend at autozone today about the ball joints, tie rods, etc. and he said i should also get strut mounts. he says theirs little bushings and parts that swivel in their and get worn. there $80 each side though, whats the deal?

he's talking about the upper strut mount located in the engine compartment. it bolts to the fenderwell and the strut mounts to it. hope this helps.

 

anyone know if they should be replaced? i've never heard or read of anyone changing theirs before.

 

I had mine out once; didn't look at it that closely so this'll be a bit fuzzy:

I think there was a ball bearing in the center, which the top of the strut pokes through. When you turn the wheels of the car, the strut turns too; I assume the bearing is there for this reason. I doubt you have to replace them though.
