lowering a '92 RS
Im sure this has been asked before but how much do I need to cut off of my stock RS springs to lower it an inch?

I don't recommend cutting springs to lower your car, especially RS springs. But if you are on a tight budget, pick up some Pontiac WS6 or Iroc/Z28 springs first. These are stiffer and will hold up better if you chose to cut them to lower the car. Don't cut more than 1/4 coil at a time and keep the spring cool in the process. Good luck, Lon.
Actually, if you are gonna cut springs, you want to have a spring with a lower rate such as the stock springs on sport coupes. Spring rates increase when they are cut. If you already have a stiff spring, you will have a very stiff (read: unbearable ride quality) spring after cutting. Important: DO NOT CUT SPRINGS WITH A TORCH! When heated, the metal will lose its tempering, causing it to weaken.
