spindle question.
spindle question.
I was wondering why I haven't seen anyone fab up I new style spindle to fit our cars? I mean lets face it, the brakes are not nearly as nice as ls cars, and our wheel options seem to be much more limitied with the larger offset, spacers look stupid IMO, And i would think it would just be an over better/nicer setup. I know they make aftermarket drop spindles couldn't we figure out a way to adapt a new style hub assemble to them?

Re: spindle question.
the options for wheels are not limited, but the cheap cast wheels most people want, vette 4th gen ect, are limited in this offset.
as for the custom spindle, im sure it would affect geometry in some way, and the R=D needed to make such a part would make it cost a lot, and at that point there is little market for the part. Its the sad truth, 3rd geners are cheap. Thats why the belltech drop spindles failed years back, nobody wants to spend the money.
as for brakes, thats an issue easily fixed with the typical modified spindle and new brackets

Re: spindle question.
There are easily a dozen brake upgrades for our cars. Ebmiller makes a ton of conversion brackets, and sells complete packages. I have his cts-v 14" upgrade on the front of my car.
Racecraft sells a fabricated spindle for our cars as well. It has a 2" drop, and already has the necessary modifications to run the brake upgrade brackets. I have these spindles as well.

There are generally a handful of people that would ever buy such a product or know how to alter everything to firt and work. It would cost many thousands right off the bat in a-arms, springs, shocks, wheels, tires, steering componants and brakes on top of the cost of spindles. Might as well just buy another car if you are not going to commit to purchasing all of that all at once.
I basically custom made and also had others custom make various parts for my 3rd gen that were truely one offs. It cost me thousnads to do that and I documented it here years ago. So far no one has even come close to duplicating it. Why? because I do not even thionk I could resorce the parts and people anymore to redo what I did once already. Its just not cost fessible for production profit, and sometimes vendors will do something once just for fun and realize they will never do that again because it took much more time that initially expected.- Like my custom Global West aluminum hubs I got lucky having them make for me years back. Ask them now? they will tell you "no way".
With knowledge, you can customise your own spindles like I did to alter brake fitment and SAI to fit the scrub radius of the wheel fitment with the new brake package and track width.
