Rear Disc- EZ bolt on for '91 z28? Where2find?
My rear drum brakes are going to need replacement soon- I'm upgrading the engine to a 350 this week, and was thinking that I ought to swap the drums out for discs, I know that a variety of models had a rear disc brake option- does that mean that I could do an easy bolt-on swap to disc? And if so, where could I find a kit? Or could I just find a camaro (or alternative model with matching parts) with rear discs and pull 'em off that? If other cars use the same kit, what other cars would be donor candidates? Thanks for any help!

If by "easy bolt in swap" you are referring to swapping the ENTIRE rear end housing. Then, yes it is easy. You can't just bolt on GM disc brakes to a drum brake rear end. The drum brake backing plates are welded to the housing and aren't compatible with the disc brake ones. There are aftermarket kits to swap in disc brakes to a drum rear end. But the cost is VERY expensive. A much cheaper route is to pick up either a 9 or 10-bolt rear end from another ThirdGen F-body. It will swap in directly. Do a search on this subject. It has been covered in detail already. Good luck, Lon.
