Is my steering wheel gonna fall off?
Is my steering wheel gonna fall off?
I've got about 2-3 inches of vertical play in it, and now it started making a creaking noise, like maybe it's rubbing against the plastic housing right by the ignition. I know the exact problem, it's because the bracket for the tilt control is loose, but I don't have a wheel puller available to me right now. Is there any way it will actually come off, or did GM design it a little better then that? Thanks ahead guys.

Nope, wont fall off. i had the same thing happen to me. U need to pretty much take the column apart all the way down to the bottom. there are 4 bolts that hold the tilt in. they have come loose as u already know, so just go in there and lock-tight them up. Ur gona need a pin puller to take these 2 pins out of the side of the column. Go to the midwest board and page WEcoyote. tell him whats going on. he can give u a diagram and explain how to take the column apart better then I can.
Just Finished this, and Mine pretty much Came off in My hands in the middle of an intersection doing a u turn

I've done it before, but it always loosens up again. How do I do it so it will stick for good?
