Rear disc brake swap; What parts?

What parts will I need beside the differential with the rear disc brakes?

That's it?!? The proportioning valve? What about the master cylindar? Is the front-to-rear brake line on the rear-drum cars the same as the rear-disc? This swap sounds almost too easy. Can anyone confirm?

Okay if you are going from drum to disc and the disc brakes are older then 88 you need a diffrent master, if the brakes are 89 and new (aluminum) the masteris the same as the disc, you will need a p valve, new e brakes cables and brake lines. That is all you will need besides brake fluid and pads. I ran the 88 and older on the same master cylinder that I ran my drums and my current 89 and up brakes on and I had no problem.

Roy, that front-to-rear brake line seems to differ between years of f-bodies. So an '87 drum-equipped car would have the same front-to-rear brake line as an '87 disc-equipped car.

It's when you do something like I did, and put an '84 rear axle on an '86 car. The axles are all the same; what matters is the year of the proportioning valve. The '84 prop valve didn't meet up with my '86 brake line.

An '86 prop-valve probably would've. I think GM wanted about $80 for it.

I just took the front-to-rear brake line from another junkyard '84 car.

The vavle for a 88 iroc with disc is the same as the early 89 model for disc's they are diffrent for drum cars though.
