Rear Swat Bar Specs

I have a '89 TA w/ the WS6, and I'll be changing the rear sway bar bushings soon. A friend of mine has a bar which he says is better than my current one (hollow for lighter weight and thicker for performance were his reasons) what are the specs of my STOCK bar so i can see if buying the newer one off of him for a couple bucks would be worth it?

There are way to many misconceptions out there regarding this, so I will post to help "clear the air".

WS6 does not garuntee that you will get the largest sway bar out there. WS6 is a "special performance package" and does not concern the swaybars. If you want to know about your sway bar, you need to look at the "F" codes. This is what was available:

FE1: 30mm front, 18mm rear
F41: 34mm front, 21mm rear
FE2: 36mm front, 21mm rear

Now granted, if your car does have the WS6 package, I highly doubt that you got the "FE1" suspension package, but I'm pretty sure that many WS6's got out w/ the F41 suspension.

So to answer your question, only two rear bars were offered, 18mm and 21mm, and I don't think any 18's were installed on on WS6 cars. As for the "hollow" bar, that would be the 36mm and if I'm not mistaken, its just as strong as the 34mm, just lighter.

GMTech,

I bought a front and rear from what I believe was a WS6 car and the front stablizer was 36 mm, the rear 24 mm. I've had both measured. What gives? By the way, my 85 IROC has the FE2 RPO and came stock with a 32 mm and 24 mm.
