15" wheel/tire combo reduce ride harshness?

Will switching to a 15" wheel and tire combo significantly reduce the harshness of my IROC's ride? What size wheel should I get so the fronts and rears are the same? Just trying to save a pain in my *** literally and when it comes time to rotate tires . Thanks guys.

The best way to improve your IROC ride is a Sedan Deville.

Been there, done that. Switching from a 16" rim to a 15" one would make about as much a difference in ride quality as a fart in the wind. Besides, it will also make your car look ugly. Ask me - I have 15" rims on my car and I can't wait to get 17"s. Yeah those 17"s will probably hurt ride quality a bit but atleast the car will look nice with them.

So what I'm saying is if you're going from 16s to 15s, don't expect any change. If u're going from 17s to 15s, there will be a slight improvement in ride quality and a drastic reduction in steering response. IMHO and from my experience, a good set of new tires made the biggest difference in ride quality. Got a silky smooth ride (only on smooth surfaces) and all the freakin' rattles also disappeared .

BTW, my friend's '91 Z with 16" factory rims still smoother than my car. Dunno why...

Edit - You can maintain original tire diameter on 15" rims with a 225/60R15 tire. At least that's what I'm running. If you run a wider tire, say a 245, the profile should be at the most 55.

Thanks for the input, 88. Looks like I can spend more money on other aspects of the car now. I figured it wouldn't make too much difference, but I wanted to know from someone who had tried it before.

when I got my Formula it had 15s on it. It seemed like it was a lot less harsh when I described the ride to people. You could try getting some old WS6 springs to see it that helps. I should be replacing my springs by summer. my ride has gone to ****. I think I need new shocks. If its still too soft after I get shocks I'm gonna get springs. I got 155k miles on it now. I bought it with 75k miles on it.
