a little advice on alignment job
a little advice on alignment job
My iroc has been lowered and needs an alignment. I run 275-40-17 and 315-35-17 yoks what should i have the shop set my car up at? Factory specs? I wouldn't mind a little agresive road race setup but nothing thats realy going to make tire wear funny.
Thanks, Matt

I did my own self-alignment a couple years ago to even out my tire wear and just had it checked recently. I just loosened the strut tower nuts and banged them in towards the engine and back as far as they'd go. I ended up with -.9/-1.2 degrees camber and 4.6 degrees caster. It works great on the street and during auto-x and road-racing.
Instead of wearing the outside edges of the tires out prematurely, they wore out evenly, allowing me to get 37k miles out of my BF Goodrich Comp T/A ZR's.
You could have them align it like this or to numbers close to these, but most shops will only align w/in the factory specs (the camber is supposed to be positive instead of negative). If they won't align to your preference, have them do it to the stock settings, then go home and "fix" the camber...

Wait a second if you have the car aligned and then try to adjust camber it will throw off everything. I tried this when installing camber caster plates. And I checked with the guy that does my alignment which he backed up by showing me the specs as he adjusted the camber on the alignment rack. If you just try to change camber say to make it more negative it will throw off your caster and toe settings also. I run +5 degrees caster with -1.1/.9 camber. I also autocross and street drive my car and the settings work beatifully.
