Are all STB's hollow?

Someone told me today that all STB's are solid... I thought they were hollow, but wasn't sure.

Whoever told you that STBs are solid is full of crap. No one would use a solid bar to manufacture a STB because a solid bar will flex quite a bit more than a hollow bar, thus defeating the purpose of a STB.

A solid bar will actually be stiffer than a hollow bar of the same material. The problem is that the strength advantage is not worth the weight added in the center of the bar.

Thanks again guys! Hey you wouldn't know the usual diameter of a strut-tower-brace, would ya?
