softer shocks??

I have an imported 87 formula with the performance suspension option (WS6 I think). I live in England & most of the roads I drive on are not that smooth and the ride can be very harsh.

I know most people want the other way round, but does anyone know of any shocks that I could change to that are suitable for this car that will make a noticeable improvement in ride quality -I'm looking for a softer ride (but with nothing more than a minor effect on handling)

I'm not looking to spend a huge amount of money, but any help would be appreciated!!

thanks!
Andrew

If you have the WS6 option I don't think you are going to notice very much of an improvement in ride quality just by replacing the shocks and struts, but they will help. Gabriel and Monroe come to mind if you want a softer ride. I have Gabriel VST shocks and struts on my car and they give a slightly softer ride than my old ones.

Andrew,

I agree standard Gabrielle or Monroe shocks are cheap and will give you a softer ride. Take a look at Carparts.com website for different shocks available. They are not very keen on shipping to the UK send them an e-mail first if you want to order from them. Shipping is about $90 for shocks and struts and import duty is 10 gbp plus 25 % of the declared value of the goods. Delivery time is between 1 to 2 weeks.

Those stiff springs and fat sway bars are causing alot of your problems. Any mod that makes your car ride softer is going to hurt handling. If you already have stock shock/struts, changing shocks/struts won't help very much.
