STEERING PROBS
STEERING PROBS
My car makes a clunking noise like one of the sterring linkages is bad when I take left turns. Also the steering input to the right front tire is loose and sloppy compared to the left side. It feels like the wheel is loose. I've got new struts, springs, new wheel bearings, the lugs are tight, tires fine. Do I need to rebuild my steering joints? If so, where can I find a good complete kit and how hard is it to do? TIA.

I'd start by checking your actual steering rod that goes to the gearbox, and other than that, check your tie-rods, ball joints, and idler arm, all of which are easy to replace, just would need an alignment afterwards. I have never bought a kit, although they are out there. I just bought all the parts I needed... Others here have gotten kits, so I'm sure someone can give you a price on it.
