i know its a well known issue by the steering gear area
i havent seen too much info on here
what are you guys doing with these problems?
im not looking into taking the car into a shop that will charge me well over $560

Since you have an IROC, which is equipped with a Wonderbar, I'm surprised you're experiencing problems. Common board wisdom is to weld the cracks and throw on a Wonderbar.

yeah suprised as well. it has an oem wonderbar. what do u guys think about adding/ welding a 1/8 plate in between to reinforce that area?

I see no problem putting a plate in there, with proper welding of course. Make sure you're steering box will bolt back up OK before final welding. I made me a wonderbar that used all of the available holes that were in that area. Take a look and you will see what I mean. Dean
