i plan on taken a loan for $4000 to put a 400 and some other goodies in my car, and my qustion is if a put a 400 with aprox 420 hp and 460 lbs of torque would the x-member rip the fram, leaving my car unrepairalble and wortless. i was think ing of haveing a metel "patch" welded in to strenthin it.

never had it on a dyno but desk top dyno says the 355 i built for my sons camaro makes that much, or more and it hasn't happened to him yet. i'd weld the crack and maybe plate over it, should be fine for years to come if you repair it.

Changing the subject, but getting a loan for building a motor is not very wise. Pay cash. Even though it may take longer, you won't pay $2,500 in intrest for a $4,000 engine.
