What is this and why is it here?

I'm in the process of rebuilding the frond suspension on my '92 'vert, Time Machine. When I took off the lower control arms, I discovered these protrusions. What are they, and why are they there?

steering stops, the contact the spindle to keep the wheels from turning too far. Your alsmost looks bent a little

Thanks! I had no idea. I'll have a look in my shop manual to see if I can find the correct angle...Or is this absolutely necessary to keep?

not going to find a correct angle in a shop manual. I think its supposed to be just a simple 90 degree angle from the a-arm, yours looks bent open some

When the spindle is installer, and turned all the way, the stop will hit the bottom of the spindle on the side with the caliper. so long as it hits, its probably fine.
