'85 rear discs

Howdy all. I'm new to this board and just though I'd greet everyone first... <grin>

I have an '85 Camaro that is built to SCCA Autocrossing's C-Prepared category. Right now, it has the original brakes on the car, and the emergency brake (everything to do with it) is gone. The brake pedal is a Tilton dual cylinder unit. After reading some of the other posts about them, I'm assuming that my low pedal, and ****-poor braking performance (even with PFC pads) have less to do with preparation, and more to do with bad design.

I do, however, still have the levers on the back of the calipers that have the weight blocks on them. It looks as though the assembly would back the cylinder off the rear pads without the cable in place to stop it, so I was going to remove the lever and weight.

I'm not looking for a permanent fix as I eventually will replace the rear axle, and replace the front brakes with it. However, doing them both at the same time is major costly, and can't do it right now.

Any idears?

Thanks,

CPCamaro

I thought the purpose of the counter weights was to help release the e-brakes after the lever had been released. I don't think it will give you any problems either way.
