what bushings do I replace for a better ride?
I own two convertibles, one that the previous owner did suspension work on and another that rides like a tank. I know the smooth riding car had bushings replaced and new struts, when I go to a shop and ask them to replace my bushings, which bushings am I talking about? I want to go to the shop with some knowledge of what they are doing. Or can I replace bushings easily by myself. If so, where do I get the bushings and where on the car are they located?

Well you could replace all of them cause hey what the hell can't go wrong! But you most likely want to replace the endlinks. You can do it youself much cheeper that a shop can. Both the rear aand front sets in polyurethane(?) would only run about $45-$65 and all you need are stands, a jack and a ratchet. (for a real easy time a sawsall comes in real handy
) You car will hug the road with the bushings and shocks/struts

You put Mt. Dew in the gas tank!?!
Wow, look at it go!

my PST front end rebuild kit came with front end links and a set of endlink bushings for the rear sway-bar. you could order the rear sway bar bushings for $15 extra
the PST kit includes : lower control arm bushings, sway bar links & bushings, ball joints & tie rod ends, all bushings are polygraphite so they won't squeek. the whole kit is $159 free shipping. the bushings and ball joints can be installed with a good sized bench vise, just be sure to press the bushing out the right way! (don't push the flared side through) I used an air chisle and messed up my A-arms,I wish I had thought of using the vise first. you'll need an assortment of sockets and "rings" like the ones in a ball joint press set. then you can get the old ones out and the new ones in, you'll have to come up with a way to keep the control arm from bending while you press the new bushings in. if I could go back in time,I would have brought my control arms to a shop and had them press the bushings and ball joints for me,because there is nothing fun about doing that part! everything else is cake...exept getting the springs into position...but I know how to do that now too,I'll let you know how it works out tomorrow. also,poly-control arm bushings will only help handleling and control, they won't make the ride harder or softer, thye make the car feel much more stable.
